Question: I am trying to replace a defective float valve in my old wall-hung toilet. Replacement of this toilet is very costly and - even if I could spare the $3,000 - we really like this old fashioned toilet and would miss it. Do you have a float valve that will work?

Answer: Yes. The valve originally manufactured for Crane® is available for purchase at our secure online store.  Click here

About these toilets:
Wall-hung toilets continue to operate well for owners that have maintained them. Once considered "old-fashioned", the wall-hung toilet of the past has regained its popularity and has become both stylish and cherished by its proud owners. Due to tank size and elevation, they generally out-perform their younger counterparts. Water conservationists may scorn them, but few would question "the power of the flush". Having to flush more than once is seldom the case with any of the wall-hung toilets. As a practical matter, it is a complex and extensive plumbing renovation to replace wall-hung toilets with new (one or two-piece) gravity flow toilets.

About Our Product: CESCO's Scovill Model 12 Back Supply Ballcock is used extensively to replace the float valves in wall-hung toilets. We have supplied these to many plumbers and, in quantity, to a few companies that have made a business of salvaging, rebuilding, and selling these toilets to those who are willing to pay dearly for the privilege of owning one. At one time, our Scovill Model 12 was installed as original equipment. Plumbers and handymen have improvised replacement fill valves in some of these tanks when they could not find "the real thing". The demand for these back supply (or top supply) float valves continues. We supply information and prices for replacement parts and repair kits on this valve (see Scovill Model 12 Product Information or our on-line store, 12RP repair kit as listed above). Call, fax, or e-mail your further questions or to place an order.

Installation Tips:
The Scovill Model 12 has an integral shut-off valve at the top for service convenience and safety. The unit can be installed with or without the shut-off valve in place. Due to the location of the supply line in some tanks, the threaded connection must be vertical. In this situation, the shut-off valve is often removed before installation and connection is made to the vertical male thread. With the supply line horizontal, the connection is made to the female thread of the shut-off valve. Both supply connections (vertical and horizontal) have the same thread size, 3/8-18 NPT. Adaptors may be needed to make the connection to the supply line, depending on the thread of the coupling or pipe.
